RJ Reynolds Tobacco’s (RJRT) market share was flat last year, with gains by recently acquired Newport neutralized by performance of the cigarette maker's other two major brands, said parent company Reynolds American (RAI).
Newport market share rose 0.6 percentage points in the fourth quarter to 13.6 per cent and 0.4 percentage points in 2015 to 13.4 per cent. Pall Mall dipped 0.3 percentage points in the quarter and for the year to 7.8 per cent, RAI said. Camel was unchanged at 8 per cent in the quarter and 8.2 per cent in 2015.
American Snuff shipments of Grizzly moist snuff increased 4.7 per cent to 454.4 million cans in 2015. Other brands dipped 0.4 percentage points to 44.7 million cans. American Snuff full-year operating income rose 14.6 per cent to USD 502 million (EUR 445 million).
The June, 2015 acquisition of Lorillard boosted RAI annual operating profit 175 per cent to USD 6.95 billion on sales of USD 10.7 billion, the company said.
