Imperial Tobacco has launched Rizla Flavour Infusion cards in a bid to get around the ban on menthol cigarettes that comes into effect this year, reports The Sun.
The cards that are available in two flavours (Menthol Chill and Fresh Mint) and cost GBP 0.25 each are added to a packet of cigarettes or pouch of tobacco for 60 minutes, during which time they infuse the tobacco with the distinctive flavours, according to The Sun.
Charities have slammed the sale of the Rizla cards, saying the move was a calculated way of getting around the ban. Deborah Arnott, chief executive of Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) said, “It’s shocking that Imperial Tobacco plans to sell cards which can be inserted in packs to add menthol flavours to tobacco and get round the ban.”
