Schweitzer-Mauduit International, which makes cigarette papers, said on Tuesday that it is evaluating how to operate facilities in France more effectively and could take restructuring charges.
The company said it has not yet come to any decisions about the operations, but it appears more likely that changes could require additional write-offs or accelerated depreciation of some equipment and include possible restructuring charges.
Schweitzer-Mauduit previously said it has felt pressure from decreased demand for some tobacco-related products due to falling smoking rates in some countries and competitors stepping up their manufacturing of tobacco-related papers in Europe. (pi)
