The City Council of San Rafael, a city near San Francisco, has approved a smoking ban in multiple unit residential buildings, Reuters reported.
The ban will take effect in November, 2013, and applies to owner-occupied and rental units, Reuters reported. San Rafael reportedly is the ninth California municipality to ban smoking in multiple unit housing, and the state is the only one in the country with bans like the one passed 15 Oct. in San Rafael.
“We think it will greatly benefit our residents and those visiting San Rafael, and we think it will set the tone for other cities as well," said Mayor Gary Phillips. (pi)
