Swisher International will acquire boutique cigar maker Drew Estate Tobacco to expand its high-end product inventory, the company said.
Drew Estate will retain its current management and operate as a wholly owned Swisher subsidiary. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal should close in the final business quarter of 2014, Swisher said.
Drew Estate brands include ACID, Herrera Esteli, Undercrown, Liga Privada and Nica Rustica. The company is based in Miami, Florida and has been making cigars in Nicaragua since 1998. Swisher is based in Jacksonville, Florida. Its brands include Swisher Sweets, which the company says is the world’s largest selling cigar brand.
