According to the presidential PR service, president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed an ordinance amending the 2002 decree on state control of tobacco turnover, advertising and consumption.
The new document prohibits all types of tobacco advertising during cultural, educational and sport events, informs Rustabak.ru. Tobacco ads were earlier banned from educational, cultural and sports institutions, public transport, printed media cover pages and all editions for minors. Belarus where one third of the population are regular smokers ratified FCTC last May. (vt)
