Philip Morris' parent company Altria, Reynolds American and Lorillard notified U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler that they will appeal her decision last week to continue monitoring the tobacco industry.
This follows Kessler's ruling on 1 June that her involvement wasn't ended by a 2009 law that empowered the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to monitor the industry and establish restrictions on the sale, promotion and distribution of tobacco products. (pi)
