Sales volume at the end of the auction season of 140 million kilogrammes reaped USD 514.3 million (EUR 418.3 million), according to the Zimbabwe Herald.
Citing data from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board, the newspaper said 88 million kg was sold via contracts and 52 million kg in auctions that ended in late July. Average price for golden leaf was USD 3.67 per kg versus USD 2.75 last year.
This year sales volume is less than the official target of 150 million kg, the newspaper reported. (pi)
