As a result of routine profiling and with the help of their mobile X-ray scanner and detector dog Waffle, Revenue officers seized over 12.5 tonnes of roll-your-own tobacco at Dublin Port.
The smuggled tobacco originated from Bulgaria and was branded under names such as ‘The Turner Original’, ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Henley’. The estimated street value is over EUR 7.7 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of around EUR 6 million, the report said.
