President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said tough new tobacco regulations including graphic warnings covering 40 per cent of cigarette packs are in store beginning in 2014, the Jakarta Globe reported.
Advertising would be restricted. For example, ads on television and would be required to allocate 10 per cent of running time to warnings, the newspaper reported on its website. The location and size of outdoor advertisements would be restricted.
Yudhoyono said a draft of the regulation is in its final stages and that he will sign it in the interests of protecting the public health, the Globe reported. (pi)
