In the first half of 2020, Ukraine imported tobacco and tobacco products worth USD 243 million, an increase of 18 per cent compared to the same period in 2019, MENAFN reported.
Tobacco raw material remains the main item in foreign purchases of tobacco products for Ukraine, the report said. From January to June 2020, Ukraine imported more than 21,000 tonnes of tobacco raw material worth USD 115 million. The second largest import item is other tobacco products and substitutes for industrial production (about 9,000 tonnes worth USD 112 million), according to numbers by the Institute of Agrarian Economics.
The major suppliers of tobacco products to Ukraine were Italy (24.9%), Malawi (12.3%), Germany (10.6%), the Netherlands (10.5 %), and Brazil (9.1%), the report said.
