Vector Group, which controls the fifth largest US cigarette maker Ligget, said unit sales in the business quarter ended 30 June fell 8.4 per cent.
Tobacco revene at USD 276.6 million (EUR 225.2 million) fell 5 per cent from the second quarter of last year. Operating income rose to USD 40.9 million from USD 38 million, the company said in a statementon on 31 July. In addition to Ligget, the holding company controls Vector Tobacco and New Valley. Brands include Eve, Grand Prix and Pyramid. (ci)
