Wales’ National Assembly is planning to ban smoking in public spaces and workplaces from April 2007.
The government targets smoking in all enclosed public spaces. If the legislation goes through assembly procedures as expected, the ban will come into effect from April 2, 2007.
After Scotland, Wales is the second country of the United Kingdom to ban smoking in public spaces. England and Northern Ireland are following, with the countries planning to introduce bans in mid-2007 and April 2007, respectively. (pi)
