Amcor has acquired Aluprint tobacco packaging for USD 40 million (EUR 30.5 million) to give it a local presence in Mexico, the Australian-based company announced.
Aluprint operates out of a plant in Monterrey, Mexico, constructed in 2009 at an approximate cost of USD 40 million. The acquisition price represents the book value of assets acquired, comprising the plant at Monterrey, a cylinder engraving operation and working capital, Amcor said in a statement on 5 April. Aluprint annual sales are USD 30 million.
The transaction continues Amcor’s strategy of expansion in Latin America and should be finalized by July, the company said. Amcor, with annual sales of AUD 12.4 billion (EUR 9.7 billion), says it is the world's leading manufacturer of packaging. (ci)
