A new cigarette packaging plant, built by tobacco packaging company Amcor Rentsch Europe under a EUR 30 million investment plan, will be opened in the village of Dergachi, Kharkiv region, in the coming autumn.
This has been reported by Ukrainian media referring to a meeting between the group’s managing director, Jerzy Czubak, and regional government officials. According to Czubak, two production lines are to be built with an annual capacity of 1.5 billion blanks each. They will be launched in November 2007 and the first half of 2008 respectively. Construction works have now entered closing stages, and machinery is expected to arrive in August.
The plant will employ around 150 workers, Czubak said. In addition to supplying cigarette boxes to Ukrainian manufacturers, the company also plans to export them.
