Bloomberg Philanthropies will commit another USD 220 million (EUR 166 million) to combat tobacco use, raising the total anti-smoking allocation to nearly USD 600 million, Reuters reported.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the focus will be low and moderate income countries where 80 per cent of smokers live. Speaking at a news conference, Bloomberb accused cigarette manufacturers of “nefarious activities,” according to Reuters.
Target countries would include Russia, China, Indonesia and Bangladesh, according to the 22 March report. (pi)
