Cigarette prices on military bases will be increased to equal those on products sold in nearby civilian outlets, Reuters reported.
The price increases would reflect the level of local taxes, which are not levied on cigarettes sold on base, the new agency said in a story citing an anonymous Defence Department official. The new guidelines, which include extending smoke-free zones in areas frequented by children, are contained in an 8 April memo from Defence Secretary Ash Carter, Reuters said.
