The EU advisory panel to help determine which cigarette and RYO products should be taken off the market because they contain characterising flavours will hold its first meeting on 1 June, the European Commission said.

The Commission in early April named six experts to the Independent Advisory Panel to help EU member states and the Commission decide which products to remove from the market under provisions of the 2014 Tobacco Products Directive. The EU Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE) will support the panel, which will also be backed by a technical group of sensory and chemical assessors.
