The manufacturer of Gauloise and Gitanes cigarettes, Seita, will appeal the law mandating uniform packaging for tobacco products to the country’s top court, AFP reported.
"Our rights to use our brands, several of which were created more than 100 years ago in France, should be respected," the Imperial Brands subsidiary reportedly said in a statement announcing the appeal to the Council of State. Plain packaging is set to take effect on 1 Jan.
Seita joins Japan Tobacco International, which appealed when the plain-pack law was published in March, said AFP.
