Carrie Lam, the chief executive and leader of Hong Kong, has announced that the Chinese territory is planning on banning e-cigarettes along with other novel tobacco products in order to safeguard public health, according to a press release by the associated press (AP).
Lam said during her yearly policy speech that Hong Kong’s government was currently drafting legislation to prohibit the import, manufacture, sale, distribution and advertisement of e-cigarette products, according to the press release.
Lam’s address also highlighted key concerns for the territory including quality of life, education, health care, increasing housing prices and employment issues’ among the youth in Hong Kong, the AP reported.
