Interior Minister Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz issued a reminder to local government to enforce the smoking ban in government buildings and public places.
In directives sent to all regions, he also underscored the ban on selling tobacco products to persons under the age of 18.
“Because we are a Muslim country, we are required to be a good example for other countries to comply with the orders of Islam, which urge to preserve the people's money, interests and public health,” bin Abdulaziz said in a statement.
Shisha also is subject to the smoking ban, which includes cafes, restaurants, shopping centres and closed public spaces. (ci)
