KT&G Corp Chief Executive Officer Baek Bok-in and former CEO Min Young-in are among 42 persons connected with the cigarette maker who have been indicted for corruption, Yonhap News Agency reported.
Those indicted in an investigation that began a year ago include five additional former and current KT&G board members, Yonhap said. CEO Baek took over from Min in July, 2015 when he resigned at the onset of the investigation, Yonhap said.
Min has been in custody since December, accused of receiving KRW 150 million (USD 113,000) and paying KRW 660 million in bribes to a public official, Yonhap said. Baek allegedly received KRW 55 million in bribes from an advertising company and helped a witness flee the country, according to Yonhap.
Prosecutors also indicted 17 officials from KT&G’s subcontractors, Yonhap said.
