Price increases helped raise Lorillard sales 2.3 per cent to USD 1.7 billion (EUR 1.4 billion) in the second quarter as domestic shipping volume dipped, the company said.
Newport brand domestic shipping volume fell 2 per cent to 8.8 billion sticks in the three months ended 30 June. Market share of the flagship brand was roughly unchanged at an estimated 12 per cent.
Second-quarter operating income at USD 484 million was USD 3 million less than in the second quarter of 2011. (ci)
