A law passed in April to ban advertising for tobacco products in mass media, public venues, public vehicles and outdoors took effect 1 Sept, Reuters reported.
The law includes harsher punishment for false advertisement, the news agency said. Youth are a target group for the new restrictions, Reuters reported.
Liang Xiaofeng, deputy director of the country’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in an interview with the news agency said he expected additional increases in tobacco duties because young smokers are sensitive to price hikes.
