Tobacco Journal International and World Tobacco merge

In order to best serve the needs of the international tobacco industry and its suppliers, DMG Worldmedia (London, UK), organisers of the "World Tobacco" events and publishers of "World Tobacco" magazine, and Konradin Selection (Mainz, Germany), publishers of "Tobacco Journal International", are excited to announce a new partnership giving focussed, cohesive access to the world's tobacco markets and a truly integrated platform for the international tobacco community.

From June 2009 "World Tobacco" magazine will no longer be published separately, but will be part of "Tobacco Journal International" (TJI), the world’s premier publication for the industry. "Tobacco Journal International" will become the exclusive publishing partner for the TJI/World Tobacco coalition and will participate in, and support all "World Tobacco" events including forthcoming exhibitions in Asia, the Middle East and India. All "World Tobacco" publications will, in future, be produced by Konradin Selection as part of the TJI magazine and other publications in TJI’s portfolio. TJI will publish all catalogues and special issues for "World Tobacco" events.

DMG Worldmedia will continue to organise, and develop a programme of "World Tobacco" events, in collaboration with TJI, with the aim of building the strongest and most cost effective integrated exhibition and advertising platform for our industry.

World Tobacco and Tobacco Journal International team up

Ian Faux, Vice President of DMG Worldmedia, said: "We firmly believe that the interests of our industry are best served by co-operation and partnership and that our friends and customers will welcome the emergence of a clearly market leading partnership. We and TJI both believe this is the best way forward to demonstrate our longstanding commitment to the tobacco community and DMG Worldmedia are delighted to have found a partner who shares our values. We look forward to working with the TJI team to create the top publications and top events for the tobacco industry. We wholeheartedly recommend our loyal customers to continue their support of ‘World Tobacco’ magazine as part of TJI. I and my colleagues at TJI will also be particularly excited to share our future event plans with you."

Christoph Schmidt, Managing Director of Konradin Selection: "This new alliance allows us to concentrate and complement our future efforts, with each partner focussing on his core competences. The Konradin publishing group is a leading publisher of trade journals and magazines, DMG Worldmedia a leading and highly professional organiser of trade shows and events. The resulting synergies will provide our customers, both old and new, with a unique level of services and ideas.

In times of an uncertain economic climate and mounting restrictions on the tobacco industry, we firmly believe in the innovative power of the industry and its suppliers. It is our joint ambition to be part of this innovative power by being a reliable and dynamic communications partner to the tobacco industry.

We have set a clear signal for the future by combining the expertise of ‘Tobacco Journal International’ and DMG's ‘World Tobacco’ events."
